Summary Manages all activities related to Product Assembly, Facility, Test, Safety and Environmental as well as leading PCI’s continuous improvement activities.  The incumbent will identify and eliminate waste in all PCI’s work process from commercial to fulfillment; shaping and leading change throughout the organization by bringing expertise in LEAN manufacturing and Six-Sigma practices by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Supervisors/Managers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle times, and production costs.
  2. Drive PCI toward a continuous improvement culture by developing PCI’s LEAN and Six-Sigma capabilities at all levels.
  3. Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
  4. Lead and effectively facilitate Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping events to drive sustainable improvements.
  5. Achieve optimum operations employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
  6. Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of operations, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  7. Direct, train, and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing, safety, and environmental procedures. Act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies, and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results
  8. Direct and coordinate various programs essential to operations and manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, facility etc.).
  9. Create (with Engineering) appropriate Assembly and Test Procedures (ATPs) and establishes Test Fixtures for Test and Assembly Groups and ensures all ATPs are followed including complete documentation and job travelers.
  10. Hire, train, develop and evaluate subordinate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate. Ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Initiate and coordinate major facilities projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
  12. Help drive PCI vision, brand promise and values.
  13. Actively partner with process owners to ensure results delivered and future state achieved.
  14. Maintain compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
  15. Review work for accuracy, completeness, and proper authority.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Manages Production, Continuous Improvement, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Testing, Facility, Safety and Environmental and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline or equivalent; and five (5) plus years’ experience in manufacturing management (preferably mid-size in medical/Oxygen equipment), plus at least 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, LEAN methodologies specifically identification of all forms of waste, value stream mapping (VSM), workplace organization visual controls (WOVC/5S), standardize work, Kaizen flow, mistake-proofing, Kanban system, Flow, Single-minute exchange of dies (SMED), etc.

 

Other Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to plan, lead, and execute Lean events with cross functional teams.
  • Experience with Six Sigma (Green, yellow, or black belt desired).
  • Change Management Professional certification (plus)
  • Project Management Professional certification (plus)
  • Lean Manufacturing Practitioner preferred.
