PCI Gases and Martin Energy Group Partner for Renewable Natural Gas Production
PCI Gases and Martin Energy Group have joined forces to integrate VSA (DOCS) Oxygen Generators into Anaerobic Digester Systems. Based in Tipton, Missouri, Martin Energy Group is a global provider of complete solutions for generator packages, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, microgrids, landfill gas, wastewater treatment, and anaerobic digester design and construction. With hundreds of CHP units installed worldwide, they have chosen PCI’s oxygen generators to support oxygen injection in select Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects.
Enhancing Biogas Upgrades with PCI’s Oxygen Generators
These RNG projects focus on upgrading biogas from anaerobic digesters to natural gas quality by removing impurities, such as Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). Jacob Nolting, Mechanical Engineer at Martin Energy Group, explained: “To achieve this, media beds are used to remove H2S. Oxygen is injected at a controlled rate to reoxidize the media, which significantly increases bed life.” This process not only improves efficiency but also reduces long-term costs for RNG producers.

VSA Technology
To produce oxygen from air, PCI uses a proprietary Vacuum Swing Adsorption (VSA) process that eliminates many of the design problems associated with traditional on-site gas separation systems (PSA). Our innovative VSA system eliminates the need for process valves, feed air compressors, associated dryers and feed air filtering systems. Our robust VSA oxygen process extracts maximum sieve and power efficiencies = low cost (both CapX and OpX) high purity oxygen generation. Oxygen produced is 93% purity. Additional product/systems features include load following, remote monitoring and diagnostics along with an industry only 10-year warranty on the adsorber bed vessel. Average life span of our systems is 10-15+ years.
