Reliable, Power-Efficient Oxygen Supply
PCI Gases DOCS (Deployable Oxygen Concentrator Systems) provides to the aquaculture customer:
- A robust, reliable source of on-site oxygen generation regardless of the environment – cold or hot, dry or humid
- A low-cost supply of oxygen for continuous, year-round needs with oxygen produced right at the farm
- an efficient VSA oxygen (Vacuum Swing Adsorption) process uses a blower that moves air into an adsorption vessel at very low pressures and eliminates the need for an air compressor that PSAs (Pressure Swing Adsorption) requires, thus eliminating the high cost of the compressor and the power required for its operation.
Benefits of an Active Oxygen Management Program
01
Increased stocking density and production yields
02
Increased food conversion ratio results in cost savings from improved feed utilization
03
Minimized fish mortality from decreased disease rate and fish stress
04
Better water quality
05
Optimum growth rates
06
Increased production capacity due to reduced cycle time
07
Pumping cost savings due to reduced water re-circulation
08
Higher profits due to average weight gain and higher fish quality
Like humans, aquatic species need oxygen to survive. In aquaculture, oxygen is diffused into water to increase stocking density and production yields. Consistently higher dissolved oxygen levels result in lower mortality and higher food conversion rates. To maintain optimal growth conditions, it is essential to utilize an active oxygen management system.
Injecting high purity oxygen into fish and shrimp raceways, ponds, or tanks instead of ambient air provides significant productivity gains and reduces risks of mortality loss due to poor water quality. Typical aeration methods are very limited in their ability to provide consistent levels of dissolved oxygen (DO). Many aquaculture operations experience daily and seasonal low DO fluctuations. As DO levels decrease, they become inadequate for food consumption. This results in slow growth and leads towards higher mortality rates. The minimum amount of O2 required for a healthy pond must be greater than 4 mg/l (7 mg/l or more is optimum). To maintain ideal growth conditions it is thus essential to utilize an Active Oxygen Management Program.
Injecting pure oxygen directly into the water increases vital DO levels faster than is possible for air-based diffusion systems. Consistently higher DO levels thus result in lower mortality, better food conversion ratios, and the ability to increase stocking densities. Dissolved oxygen is the most important factor in achieving increased results and improving bottom-line profits.
